South Africa's Seasonal Highlights
South Africa is a year-round travel destination and due its size and ecological diversity, different climates can be found within the country.
Kruger National Park
Summer is December to February, where average temperatures of 90°F can be expected and vegetation is the at its most lush due to the high supply of water, making it a perfect season for viewing young calves
During the cooler winter months of June to August there is less lush vegetation and water is scarce, resulting in animals congregating at available water sources, making them easier to track down
Cape Town, The Winelands, Overberg and Garden Route
The Cape coastal and winelands regions have a Mediterranean climate making it an optimal environment for producing wine.
The summer months of December to February are typically warm and dry, bringing excitement to the Cape with vibrancy and many locals enjoying a festive atmosphere. Activities such as kayaking with dolphins or penguins as well as summiting Table Mountain is all on the cards for a summer or spring vacation
During the winter months of June to August, average temperatures of 64°F can be expected, visiting cozy hotels and wine tasting next to a fireplace is something magical. Winter is also a great time to go whale watching in the Cape, with the region frequented by Southern Right Whales between June and October
